More Space Place®

1987 More Space Place, originally founded as Murphy Bed Centers of America® in Jacksonville, Florida, is established to modernize the 1890’s concept of the Murphy bed. Total retail locations: 1.

1995 G&T Industries acquires Murphy Bed Centers of America, including its four franchise retail stores and three company-owned retail stores. With an investment from Windquest, a Michigan-based closet company, G&T Industries creates GTW Space Systems LLC, doing business as More Space Place. Total retail locations: 7.

1996 GTW Space Systems moves its headquarters to Largo, Florida. Total retail locations: 15.

1998 GTW Space Systems takes over manufacturing and distribution of all More Space Place products, excluding garage units. New 26,500 square foot manufacturing and warehouse facility opens in Largo. Total retail locations: 23.

2002 G&T redeems the Windquest shares and executes the spin-off of More Space Place as a separate company. The company is formally established as More Space Place®. Ownership consists of Bob Wood (majority owner) and Jack Smith (part owner and President/CEO). Company formally launches Vspace, a commercial division supported by 25 retail locations throughout the country. Total retail locations: 25.

The entire product line includes wall beds, side beds, panel beds, entertainment centers, home office workstations, closet systems, pantry systems and garage systems.
